6th place for Martin Prokop from Wales Rally GB, the ultimate race of season 2013

The closing event of the 2013 WRC season was Wales Raly GB and the crew of the Jipocar Czech National Team Martin Prokop and Michal Ernst has brought their Ford Fiesta RS WRC to the finish ramp at Llandudno as a sixth car of the overall classification.

Martin Prokop: “First two days of the rally I was not able to find the right rhythm and was struggling with my driving style. I was losing too much at every corner; the confidence was simply not there. It was quite frustrating but fortunately we were able to analyze and compare on-board videos and make some major changes to improve during Saturday and Sunday legs. The time loss per kilometre went down to cca 1 sec behind the best factory drivers again and on Sunday I was holding my position strongly against Dani Sordo who was doing his best to catch us. I would like to thank to my whole team, its sponsors and partners for the hard work and support during the whole season and big extra thanks goes also to our fans who have been cheering us up massively through social medias or directly at the every single event of the long and demanding season.”

Team manager Quirin Müller: “The performance in Spain and a good second part of Wales Rally have shown us that we are on the good way in terms of finding the right set-up of the car and an ideal driving style. At the very top of the rallying world we are able to do only very small steps ahead but we are moving and improving. Let’s say “that the air is quite thin there” and it is very difficult to make some major jumps forward as a private team. We are missing some good points from Finland and France where technical problems had put us down but at the overall classification our guys finished 9th what is the same result as the last year but on the other hand, the factory teams had more drivers in the game. The result here in Wales also moved us on the 5th place at the Teams classification what is not bat at all. Now we are travelling back home to start with preparations for the Czech Race of Champions where we will present ourselves in front of our home crowds.”
