Fantastic fourth place for Martin Prokop from German Rally

Martin Prokop and his Jipocar Czech National Team can have a sigh of relief. The curse of German Rally seems to be finally broken. After crash into vineyard and devastating fire of his car during the last two editions of this event, came deserved reward for previous suffering in the form of excellent fourth place. It is a reiteration of the best result of Czech rally driver in the history of World Rally Championship, which Prokop reached last year in Argentina. This year such fantastic result came on very demanding tarmac rally, where not only the top drivers but also conditions on the road were big rivals for all crews.

“Crucial were the Saturday stages, where we were able to drive faster than on Friday, after we have analyzed our performance from the first days of the rally but also were able to withstand the challenging afternoon conditions that prevailed at the track. There was a lot of sand and mud on the road so it was necessary to adjust the driving style. This obviously several drivers failed to do so they ended up off the track, or they had other serious problems. We ourselves have had a few big moments, but we were able to keep the car on the road. The times of Sunday's two special stages are showing that we had nowhere to rush; only we could lose an excellent position, so we have only controlled the overall result. Such result from tarmac event has got a bit higher value for me than the same one from Argentina 2012. It was very demanding rally with big competition and as privateers, we made a good result among the factory teams. We were cheered up by crowds of fans from Czech Republic; I would like to thank them for their support,” summarizes Martin.

Manager Quirin Müller adds: "For me it is actually a domestic rally, so the satisfaction is just that much greater. Martin began on Friday a little bit slower than we had expected after pre-event tests, then he was able to speed up on Saturday, but without big risk and on Sunday he drove on the safe side for fourth place. The crew and everybody from our team did a great job and now we are very motivated for the next tarmac rally in France. Fans who haven´t seen us in action here in Germany can at least come and see our new Fiesta RS WRC during the Prague Car Festival, where it will be presented on stand of our technical partner, company Millers Oils.“
