Martin Prokop withdraws from Rallye Monte Carlo after technical failure

World Rally Championship 2014 kicked-off this weekend with its iconic event Rallye Monte Carlo and the crew of Jipocar Czech National Team Martin Prokop / Michal Ernst with Ford Fiona RS WRC couldn´t miss the start of the new season.

Their performance in the race, however, was spoiled by alternator failure during the very first special stage of the day and on the road section between SS1 and SS2 their car stopped completely. Because there is no Super rally rule here on rally Monte Carlo, that allows the competitors to restart into the race on the following day, Martin and Michal unfortunatelly have to say their goodbye to the whole race.

Martin Prokop: “It is really massive disappointment for the whole team because of such banal failure, but that simply is the world of rallying with all its ups and downs. We managed to go through the first third of the special stage without any problem and the times on the first two plits showed up our speed and good tire choice under the extreme conditions that prevailed here today. In following kilometres we experienced big problems with alternator and despite disconnecting the light ramp and other devices we couldn´t prevent the inevitable end. Now we have to throw it all behind us and wait for the next rally in Sweden where we will try to start the season again.”

Team Manager Quirin Müller: "After all the night shifts at the workshop and long preparations for the logistically demanding competition like Monte Carlo undoubtedly is, we finished after few kilometres. However, promising results from the pre race tests and even those few kilometres of the special stage showed us that we started into the season in the right way. Unfortunately some technical difficulties we can´t avoid. So many thanks goes to our fans for their support and we believe that in Sweden they will see our crew happy on the finish ramp. "
